Better by the Year? Website and the KS3 Curriculum review

Following the QCA review and consultation the revised curriculum from September 2007 will include a new cross-curricular global dimension theme as well as more global content in:

Citizenship: By addressing issues relating to social justice, human rights and global community and encourages pupils to challenge injustice, inequalities and discrimination

Geography: To inspire pupils to become global citizens by exploring their own place in the world, their values and responsibilities to other people, to the environment and to the sustainability of the planet

ICT: The MDGs project delivers key concepts and processes by using ICT in contexts drawn from other subjects and areas of learning in producing a multimedia presentation

RS: Can enable pupils to flourish individually within their communities and as citizens in a pluralistic society and global community

History: Pupils investigate Britain’s relationships with the wider world and relate past events to the present day

Joining other schools in the MDGs project offers real opportunities for pupils to actively engage with the wider world alongside supporting delivery of the revised KS3 curriculum. In Year 2 of the project we will be working with UNICEF to offer a joint workshop on Children’s Rights and the Health MDGs. In Year 3 the project focuses on Sustainable Development.

On 28 November a CPD day course for KS3 teachers will be looking at the KS3 Review and starting to develop global cross curricular themes. Go to Services and CPD courses.
