Fairtrade Trail produced and available from York CGE

TEACHERS BOOKLET AND FAIRTRADE TRAILS-ONLY £15 plus FREE CD OF RESOURCES

As we approach Fair Trade fortnight (27th February to 11th March 2012) you and your school may be considering ideas to raise pupil’s awareness of Fair Trade. To support you, the Centre for Global Education York has produced and developed a Teacher’s Booklet with a series of differentiated Fair Trade Trails. The trails, around the streets and shops of York enable pupils and young people to gain an awareness of the number of shops that sell Fair Trade products.  They also challenge them to consider why retailers choose to sell fair trade; what benefits this has for producers; whether they should buy local or fair traded products and what their individual role is within the retail chain. The booklet contains useful fair trade information and facts for teachers and other adults as they direct and support individuals and groups on the trails. The trails may also be useful for churches, scout and guide leaders and parents who are wanting to provide an interactive activity that develops understanding of trade issues and allows York to be seen through different ‘eyes’.
