CGE Charges




Consultancies

Over the years the staff at CGE have worked with a range of individuals, NGOs, schools and other organisation both in the UK and other parts of the world. We welcome enquiries so please contact us to discuss your proposal.

Here is a selection of consultancies we are involved in at the moment:

UNICEF - we are working with UNICEF on the Rights Respecting School Award running three pilot projects

  • Primary Cluster in Selby North Yorkshire
  • Primary Cluster in York
  • Early Years Settings Cluster in York

Associates are working with the schools and settings on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC)to include it in the curriculum & ethos of the school/setting. New training materials have been developed and shared on the UNICEF VLE.

The Centre is represented on the UNICEF national steering group for Early Years

YHGSA

CGE is a provider for the YHGSA Global Schools Award. Associates can support schools who wish to obtain the award. For further details contact cge@yorksj.ac.uk

Previous Consultancies:

MUNDI

Working with the Development Education Centre in Nottingham as external evaluator on a 3-year DFID funded project. Me, My Community and My World: Developing Global Learners in the Early Years.

This project aims to promote an understanding and awareness of global and local perspectives, interdependence and development issues amongst Early Years Practitioners and Specialist Teachers, parents, Local Authority and NGO advisors and policy makers in Nottinghamshire, and the application of this understanding to prepare young children for life as global citizens with positive attitudes towards diversity in a rapidly changing interdependent world.

International Consultancies

China: working with the British Council and York St John University a member of CGE staff visited Bijing to facilitate a course on learning through Play in the Early years. Following this CGE was invited to organise and facilitate a study tour for 16 Early Years Principals and local government officials. The week included visits to Early Years Settings and talks from different departments in the education department of the Local authority as well as from the Director of Early years at OFSTED.

Japan: Fair Trade Workshops

YHGSA

CGE staff work on many projects for the Yorkshire Humber Global Schools Association (YHGSA) which is funded by DFID. CGE staff are represented on all the YHGSA working groups.

  • Resources and Communications – CGE staff support work with colleagues from other DECs in the region to promote the work of the YHGSA through conferences, newsletters and the website www.yhgsa.org.uk
  • North South Linking: global school partnerships – CGE coordinates this working group that supports teachers and LA in developing school linking partnerships that aim to be educational, sustainable and equitable. For more information visit the YHGSA website or contact Chrissie 01904 876755
  • Curriculum and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) – CGE staff provide courses and training for teachers through the YHGSA programme. CGE staff support schools that are working towards the YHGSA Global School Award.
  • Working strategically with Local Authorities – 2007-2009 CGE has worked with the City of York to develop the global dimension in schools across the city. This work has included:
    • supporting an Advanced Skills Teacher for the global dimension in primary schools
    • facilitating a Learning Network for teachers embedding the global dimension in the curriculum
